ST. PAUL – Today, Governor Dayton and Senate Majority Leader Bakk called on House leadership to pass a standalone bill to aid idled Iron Range Steelworkers. Thanks to Governor Dayton’s strong leadership, House Republicans finally took action to pass a standalone unemployment insurance extension bill.
Joe Davis, ABM Executive Director, released the following statement:
“Families on the Range could have gotten help weeks or months ago, but Speaker Daudt said they could wait while Republicans dragged their feet trying to get a tax cut for businesses in exchange. This political gamesmanship is representative of the Republican agenda that puts big businesses and the wealthy first, instead of working Minnesotans.”
