Last month, the House of Representatives took decisive action to protect our planet when they passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which uses market forces to drive down carbon levels, it works with the private sector grow green jobs here at home, and invests in the innovative technologies of tomorrow.
Here’s a letter to the editor from this weekend’s Duluth News Tribune:
U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar should be applauded for voting to pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act to reduce our nation’s dependence on fossil fuels and to help grow a clean-energy economy.
The bill that passed the House was a critical first step and now it moves to the U.S. Senate. I urge Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken to strengthen and pass the bill to deliver on the promise that clean energy holds to recharge our economy, to put more Minnesotans back to work, and to protect future generations from global warming.

As Coral mentions, the Senate is currently working on its version of clean energy jobs bill, and it’s important that they hear from you. 1Sky, an organization which works to shift federal policy in the United States towards the prosperity of a sustainable, low-carbon economy, has a quick and easy way for you to fax Minnesota’s two Senators on the issue.
Feel free to send Reps. Oberstar, Walz, McCollum, Peterson, and Ellison a note of appreciation for their part in ending our dependence on foreign oil and preventing the worst effects of global warming by passing the American Clean Energy and Security Act.
