Progressive Roundup: Insurance, Running and Pollution.

progressive roundupcapitolwhiteEvery week, Alliance for a Better Minnesota will highlight the important work being done in the progressive community. Focusing on issues that impact Minnesotan’s lives, this important work helps Minnesota continue moving forward.

Pollution: Clean energy is cutting carbon emissions across Minnesota, according to Environment Minnesota. A new report shows that Minnesota’s renewable energy standard reduced carbon pollution by at least 3.24 million metric tons in 2012. That is comparable to the annual emissions from 675,000 cars.

Run for Your Rights: NARAL is hosting their 4th Annual Run for Your Rights 5K in Como Park on Saturday, April 12th at 8 am. Register to participate or to sponsor a runner or team.

Insurance: Today is the last day you can enroll in a consumer health insurance plan until this fall. Planned Parenthood has been a leading advocate helping Minnesotans get covered and hosting events around the state to connect with people. Learn more about how they can help you today.

Dave Kampa: MAPE is working to pass a bill this legislative session that improves the health coverage of corrections officers like Dave Kampa. Kampa suffered injuries on the job that rendered him disabled for the rest of his life. If he was a firefighter or police officer, his health coverage would have extended throughout his life. But, as a corrections officer, he did not have that same coverage. Now his family and MAPE are working to change that.
