Progressive Roundup: Stamps, Teachers and Jobs.

progressive roundupcapitolwhiteEvery week, Alliance for a Better Minnesota will highlight the important work being done in the progressive community. Focusing on issues that impact Minnesotans’ lives, this important work helps Minnesota continue moving forward.

Stamp Out Hunger: Minnesota letter carriers will be collecting food donations Saturday, May 10th to help Stamp Out Hunger. You can help by leaving a bag of non-perishable food donations near your mailbox on Saturday. After collecting the donations, letter carriers will bring the donations to Second Harvest Heartland. Cash donations are also accepted.

Teacher of the Year: Minnesota’s Teacher of the Year is Thomas Rademacher, who teaches high school English at the Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Resources School. Rademacher was recognized this weekend at the annual event, hosted and organized by Education Minnesota.

Jobs: The Minnesota Legislature is inching closer to completing a bonding bill this spring. Legislators have put forth their plans to create thousands of jobs and complete needed construction projects across Minnesota. A final bill should be completed in the next two weeks.
