U Cancer Research: Researchers at the University of Minnesota discovered a key piece to solve the puzzle of some forms of cancer cell survival. The research proved to be the first time scientists have been able to assign certain roles to certain types of cancer cells. One of the lead researchers on the project said the finding is “a potentially very important therapeutic target.”

Job Market Making Progress: New statistics found this week that there are now about two unemployed workers for every job opening, compared to seven unemployed workers at the height of the unemployment crisis.

Capitol Christmas Tree From MN: Last month officials from the U.S. Forest Service came to northern Minnesota to select a tree for display at the U.S. Capitol this holiday season. The Capitol Christmas Tree is provided by the U.S. Forest Service, and every year a tree from a different national forest is selected. This is the first time Minnesota has been chosen since 1992.
