U Proposes Tuition Freeze: The University of Minnesota offered to freeze tuition for another two years in 2016-2017 for Minnesota residents. Unlike the U’s last tuition freeze in 2008, this freeze would also apply to graduate students and those in professional schools, not just undergrads.
Sen. Klobuchar Calls Out NFL: In response to the controversy surrounding former Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice’s domestic abuse, Senator Amy Klobuchar slammed the NFL’s process of investigation. Sen. Klobuchar criticized NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for not properly analyzing evidence, and for seemingly cherry-picking which details to focus on.
Progress In Minneapolis: An article at the Nation analyzed racial tension in Minneapolis in the context of its progressive mayor, Betsy Hodges. The argument is that Hodges’ progressive, grassroots and local-based approach to governing the city will tackle the city’s history of segregation and racial inequity.
