Last week the voters of Minnesota finally had the chance to cast a decision regarding our elected officials.
And for Senator Al Franken and Governor Mark Dayton, those decisions delivered a clear message: keep it up.
Minnesotans also elected progressives to every statewide office, again. This means that progressive leaders have held all statewide offices since 2006.
Both Dayton and Franken were reelected by over 100,000 votes because they’ve delivered success to our state by tackling the tremendous amount of student loan debt, boosting Minnesota’s education system and fostering a thriving business environment.
After learning he was reelected, Gov. Dayton immediately channeled his excitement into priorities for the state:
Let’s begin again to build a better Minnesota beginning tomorrow.
Sen. Franken, too, quickly focused on his goals for Minnesota in his victory speech:
I am so honored and so humbled and so grateful to the people of Minnesota. Thank you for taking a chance on me six years ago. And thank you for giving me the chance to keep working for you in Washington.
In a year where conservatives swept the nation, Minnesota remained strongly blue. The relief of knowing that our elected officials will continue to work on our behalf will make the coming years just a little bit easier.
