Republicans in the House Higher Education Committee rejected a bill that would provide loan debt relief for students. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jon Applebaum, would have provided up to $5,000 per year in refundable tax credits for student loan debt.

“It has the potential to help hundreds of thousands if not over one million Minnesotans immediately. At the same time this legislation is a significant step in insuring that Minnesota is a leader in post-high school affordability.” -Rep. Applebaum

This is one more example of how Republicans consistently put corporations and the rich above middle class families working to get ahead.
