June is LGBT Pride Month.
In Minnesota, we’ve come a long way from just a few years ago when a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman was put on the ballot.
Of course, that type of thing just isn’t “Minnesota nice” and voters defeated the measure. The following year – 2013 – the legislature and Governor Dayton made love the law by passing marriage equality. This month also marks one year since the Supreme Court struck down gay marriage bans in thirteen states, ruling in favor of marriage equality.
While we’ve made great gains to be more inclusive, not all conservatives think Minnesota should be a place where everyone is treated equally. That’s why it’s as important as ever to work together to ensure that we’re building a better future for all Minnesotans.
