2016 is set to be the hottest year on record globally. The current record holder? 2015. 10 of the hottest years recorded are in the last decade, with the exception of 1998. Most Americans (except for 99% of Minnesota House Republicans) accept these facts – 70% according to a 2015 poll. So what’s President-elect Trump going to do to curb climate change as the most powerful leader in the free world?
…Well, he just appointed climate change denier Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
It reads like satire, but it’s just another day in Trump’s America. Pruitt has deep ties to the fossil fuel industry and as Oklahoma Attorney General worked against implementing President Obama’s Clean Power Plan and other clean air initiatives. Pruitt has received more than $314,996 from fossil fuel special interests since 2002.
Instead of draining the swamp, it looks like Trump and Pruitt will be polluting it. It’s going to be a long, hot four years for planet earth.
