Donald Trump released his budget today and it’s about as horrible as we all expected it to be.
He wants to take away health insurance from children and make it harder for hardworking families, disabled people, and elderly people to put food on the table, all while doling out huge tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans and corporations.
Trump’s budget might be “the most radical, Robin-Hood-in-reverse budget that any modern President has ever proposed,” but sacrificing our quality of life for the benefit of super-rich people and wealthy corporations is nothing new from Republicans.
Even Republicans in Minnesota, like House Speaker Kurt Daudt, want to slash investments in our schools and healthcare and give millions in tax breaks to big tobacco companies and the wealthiest Minnesotans.
Time and again, Republicans at all levels of government make it clear that they value wealthy corporate interests over Minnesotans. We deserve better. We deserve to live in a state where we all have the opportunity to thrive, not just survive, but we’re not going to get that from Republicans.
