It’s Valentine’s Day! Even if you’re without a sweetheart today, there are still plenty of ways to spread the love to your fellow Minnesotans that don’t involve flowers or chocolate. Just take a look at some of the work being done by progressives to show their love for Minnesota (with valentines!).
Caring for a new baby or an ailing family member is stressful. It’s even more stressful if you’re worrying about how to make ends meet without a paycheck. That’s why DFLers in Minnesota are fighting to ensure paid family and sick leave for hardworking Minnesotans.
Health care is a top issue for many Minnesotans, and that’s why progressives in Minnesota are working to make health care more accessible and affordable, while still protecting the one in three Minnesotans living with pre-existing conditions. Governor Walz campaigned on a MinnesotaCare buy-in option, and Democrats in the legislature are working on solutions to provide affordable care.
Minnesota is proud to have strong, innovative colleges and universities. Unfortunately, for many students, getting a college degree means years–even decades–of paying off student loan debt. That’s why Governor Walz and Democrats in the legislature are advocating for more affordable higher education.
These are just a few of the issues that our progressive elected leaders are tackling to spread the love, Minnesota style. But there’s still plenty of time left in this legislative session, and plenty of obstacles ahead. We have to work together to keep Minnesota progressive, and let our elected leaders know about the issues that matter most to Minnesotans.
