Minnesotans want to be able to get the medical care we need at a price we can afford. We want peace of mind that we won’t be denied medical coverage because of a pre-existing condition. 

Unfortunately, former one-term Congressman Jason Lewis’s record doesn’t give Minnesotans much to be hopeful about when it comes to our care. In Congress, he tried to strip Minnesotans of the pre-existing condition protections in place because of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Without the ACA, over two million Minnesotans with pre-existing conditions could be denied the care they need and 265,000 Minnesotans could have their coverage taken away, ballooning the uninsured rate by 80 percent. 

His record is even worse on reproductive health care. On his radio show, he called women “sluts” for asking that their contraceptives be covered by insurance. Seriously. He said that. No Minnesotan should be slandered for wanting the prescriptions they need at an affordable price. 

Because of his hateful rhetoric and his disastrous agenda that prioritizes billion-dollar corporations and pharmaceutical CEOs over hardworking Minnesotans, Jason Lewis has been called a “Mini Trump.” In Congress, he voted in line with Trump over 90 percent of the time. He’s Trumpism personified, and we can’t let Trumpism take hold in Minnesota.
