Conservative gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen has a habit of getting himself into trouble. Since his time in the Minnesota State Senate, he’s made headlines for his baseless conspiracy theories, unhinged social media posts, and wild antics on the campaign trail.
From coral to burgundy, here are just a few of Scott Jensen’s reddest red flags.
He’s still promoting ivermectin in 2022
Despite the proven dangers of taking ivermectin, a deworming drug meant for farm animals, to treat COVID-19, Jensen still defended its use at a gubernatorial debate in August. It’s this kind of recklessness that led the Minnesota medical board to investigate Scott Jensen’s medical license five times.
Redness scale: like a red barn, where the animals that should be taking ivermectin live.
He’s a conspiracy theorist who compared COVID-19 protocols to Nazi Germany
Speaking of the pandemic, Scott Jensen compared Minnesota’s public health response to Kristallnacht. This comparison is inaccurate and offensive, but he continues to use this kind of inflammatory rhetoric.
Redness scale: like his own face when he got called out for those comments live on the radio.
His education plan is a disaster
This summer, Scott Jensen unveiled his plan to drastically shortchange Minnesota’s already-struggling public schools. He said that he doesn’t believe in fully funding education and doesn’t even understand what “fully funding education even means.”
Redness scale: like the red grading pens that teachers use to mark up exams (that they had to pay for out of their own pockets)
He still refuses to admit that Biden won the 2020 presidential election
Bipartisan election officials confirmed that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election fair and square. Despite this, Scott Jensen is still pushing the baseless claims that contributed to a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. He even said that he wants to jail Minnesota’s top election official – Secretary of State Steven Simon – for doing his job and certifying the 2020 election results.
Redness scale: like this January 6 rioter’s face paint.
He wants to ban abortion in Minnesota
Scott Jensen applauded an extreme abortion ban in Texas that criminalizes abortion, allows strangers to collect $10,000 for reporting women who have abortions, and fines or arrests doctors who perform abortions. And that’s not all. Jensen previously said that he wants to ban abortion in Minnesota without exceptions for rape or incest.
Redness scale: like the famous cloaks from The Handmaid’s Tale
