Tonight, at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Donald Trump accepted the nomination as the Republican candidate for president and outlined his agenda that includes rolling back reproductive rights nationwide, cutting taxes for large corporations, and enacting many of the far-right goals of Project 2025.
Donald Trump’s plan to enact the extreme goals of Project 2025 that include rolling back reproductive rights and cutting taxes for corporations is out-of-touch with the needs of Minnesotans. Minnesotans want to keep abortion safe and legal and need a leader who will put working families, not wealthy CEOs and corporations, first. Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance’s extreme, anti-choice policy agenda has no place in Minnesota.
Donald Trump Will Rollback Reproductive Rights
As president, Donald Trump was responsible for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which eliminated Americans’ constitutional right to abortion, established over 50 years ago, and opened the door for conservatives in states across the country to ban and criminalize access to abortion care.
Since then, fourteen states have enacted near-total or total abortion bans, including Minnesota’s neighbors in Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Trump has bragged about his role in overturning Roe v. Wade and promised to take further action to restrict abortion rights if given the opportunity.
In 2022, Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, said that he “certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally.” Vance also indicated he would support a federal fetal personhood law that same year.
Project 2025 includes plans to ban the abortion pill and in vitro fertilization (IVF), allow states to monitor women who are pregnant, and take away coverage for birth control.
Donald Trump is Putting Corporations Over Working Families
Trump has a proven track record of putting corporations and CEOs over working families and enacting policies that mirror the goals of Project 2025.
While corporations were making record profits during his presidency, Trump slashed the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, the lowest corporate tax rate in eighty years.
After slashing the corporate tax rate by two-fifths, Trump and conservatives promised companies would boost wages and jobs. Instead, corporations went on a massive stock-buyback spending spree, gave their executives huge bonuses, and kept worker wages flat.
Trump has also promised to cut the United States Department of Education, mirroring Project 2025’s proposal that “the federal Department of Education should be eliminated.”
