Conservative Candidate for Minnesota Governor Lisa Demuth is Blocking a Gun Violence Prevention Bill.

Less than 9 months after children were gunned down at school in Minneapolis, House Speaker and gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth is refusing to allow a common-sense gun violence prevention bill to reach the House floor.

This week, the Minnesota Senate passed a bill prohibiting military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It was sent to the House, but Lisa Demuth won’t even acknowledge receiving the bill. In fact, her conservative colleague stated, “he has received it but was instructed to not report it,” and “it’s the speaker’s prerogative to report the bill.”

Recognizing the bills’ existence is the bare minimum. Allowing the vote to happen is the bare minimum. Demuth refuses to do either. 

Parents of Annunciation Catholic School students have come together to share the devastating consequences of gun violence. They were even assured by Demuth that she would not block a bill like this. She has failed to uphold her commitment to the parents who had to bury their child. 

This is an evidence-backed, common-sense bill that could save lives. Demuth is the “leader” standing in the way.
