Ron Schutz Fights for the Ultra-Wealthy and Hate Groups

Schutz chaired the board of and donated nearly $100,000 to the Center of the American Experiment (CAE), a far-right extreme think tank in Minnesota. CAE expressed support for Trump’s disastrous budget bill that gave massive tax breaks to corporations and billionaires at the expense of working Minnesotans.

Schutz’s organization, the CAE, also gave half a million dollars to a designated hate group, the Horowitz Freedom Center, that uplifts and praises Islamophobia.

And Schutz’s organization donated over $600,000 to Turning Point USA, a far-right organization that fuels division by spreading hateful rhetoric about immigrants and the LGBTQ+ community.

Schutz is actively fueling the hate that puts Minnesotans at serious risk.

Ron Schutz Defended Health Insurance Companies

During his time as a corporate lawyer, Schutz personally represented a health insurer that was later accused of stealing $9 billion from Medicare.

Schutz also represented health insurers that denied doctor-approved care, then donated to elected officials who voted to let those same insurers deny coverage for pre-existing conditions and drop people when they get sick. 

While Minnesotans are struggling to afford and access healthcare, Ron Schutz is siding with Trump and the corporations that are ripping us off.

Ron Schutz Supports Trump’s Violent Federal Agents

After Trump’s federal agents killed two Americans in Minneapolis, Schutz continued to support Trump’s dangerous ICE operation and urged local law enforcement to cooperate with federal officials.

After Renee Good was killed by an ICE agent, Schutz supported ICE staying in Minnesota. He even said it was “okay with me” to call in the National Guard to protect ICE.

Most recently, Schutz claimed that he is “not in a position to offer an opinion” on whether he would prosecute the federal agents who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti and didn’t comment on whether or not he would continue investigating their killings. 

Ron Schutz Fights for Trump, Not Us.

Schutz has already shown that he’ll work with Trump to undermine democracy in this country. Schutz is a member of a far-right legal organization, the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA), which played a key role in Trump’s failed efforts to overturn the 2020 election and undermine the will of Minnesota voters. More recently, the RNLA worked “hand in glove” with the 2024 Trump campaign. 

When asked if he would challenge Trump, Schutz said he could not “answer in the abstract,” and said he doubted Trump would take “some action that would be blatantly illegal.”

Just like Trump, Schutz says he’ll use the state’s top law enforcement office as a weapon against his opponents. He threatened that if elected attorney general, he would issue “random subpoenas on people” and drag them in to testify in politically motivated fishing expeditions.

Schutz wants Trump’s endorsement and said he was interested in the White House “playing a role in this race.”

And Schutz supports Trump’s cuts to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, to give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations.

Ron Schutz is an Out-of-Touch Millionaire

Schutz is a millionaire conservative who doesn’t understand what life is like for Minnesotans who are struggling to afford healthcare, groceries, and gas. And Schutz doesn’t believe the attorney general should fight to lower costs.

On a questionnaire about his run for attorney general, Schutz was asked what his biggest life struggle is. His response? His golf game.

Ron Schutz owns stock in AI and big pharma companies that rip us off by driving up the cost of everything from prescriptions to groceries to clothing to utilities. 

According to Schutz’s Economic Interest Statement to the Campaign Finance Board, Schutz owns at least $100,000 in stock in big pharma companies that rip off Minnesotans seeking insulin and other critical prescription drugs. He owns an additional $100,000 in big Tech and AI companies. 

Schutz even wants to replace jobs in the attorney general’s office with AI.
