“Make America Healthy Again” might seem like an innocuous slogan, encouraging Americans to eat vegetables and exercise. But don’t be fooled by the innocent language. MAHA is a rallying cry for a group of extreme, Trump-aligned medical conspiracy theorists who want to ban vaccines and take us back to the 18th century.
Conspiracists-in-Chief
Make America Healthy Again, or MAHA, is headed by Trump’s Health Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The movement promotes harmful medical conspiracy theories, including vaccine skepticism and the false concept that taking Tylenol in pregnancy causes autism. These ideas only harm everyday Americans. Vaccines have been proven safe and significantly reduce unnecessary deaths. Tylenol use in pregnancy has no link to developmental disorders.
In a concerning turn of events, conservative gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen recently confirmed his alignment with MAHA. Jensen spoke at a “health freedom summit” in Alexandria, MN, where he pushed for nonmedical exemptions to vaccinations. He went on to parrot RFK Jr.’s language on fluoride in drinking water and support his quest to dismantle trust in existing medical research.
Minnesotans deserve public health policies based on truth and science. Scott Jensen has shown that he would base his policies on conspiracy theories and lies.
Scott Jensen’s Shady History
This isn’t the first time that Scott Jensen has expressed his less-than-trustworthy medical opinions. In 2022, it was revealed that Jensen was part of the World Doctors Alliance, which spread bogus claims and reckless pseudoscience to their online following. He also perpetuated baseless theories about the Covid vaccine and promoted unsafe alternatives, including ivermectin, a farm animal dewormer.
During his failed run for governor in 2022, Jensen admitted plans to ban abortion statewide and roll back reproductive rights. In an MPR interview in March 2022, Scott Jensen said, “I would try to ban abortion.” Abortion bans cause widespread harm and even prevent some women from receiving lifesaving care.
Jensen was also endorsed by Donald Trump in 2022. It’s clear that he prioritizes his relationships with extreme national conservatives, not with Minnesotans.
Unqualified and Unwelcome in Minnesota.
To add insult to injury, RFK Jr. has no medical background, and Scott Jensen has had his medical license investigated by the Board of Medical Practice five times. We shouldn’t trust either of these men, or their co-conspirator, Donald Trump, to make decisions about our public health.
