Minnesota Conservative Lisa Demuth Wins Republican Primary.

On August 11, conservative Lisa Demuth won the Republican primary for governor of Minnesota. Demuth is an avid and vocal champion of Trump and would bring his harmful agenda to this state. Minnesotans are working to keep up with rising costs while worried about their access to healthcare, yet Demuth has failed to demonstrate support for our community.

In fact, Demuth is one of the 86% of elected Minnesota Republicans who gut funding for Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and Social Security to hand out trillions in tax breaks to big corporations and the ultra-wealthy. When asked, Demuth could not name any policy with which she disagrees with Trump.

Additionally, she voted against holding Big Pharma accountable for skyrocketing prescription drug prices and opposed legislation that would make life-sustaining medicines like insulin more affordable for Minnesotans. Demuth also opposed providing free school meals to kids and voted to underfund public schools.

She’s praised the violent federal immigration efforts, going so far as to call for more aggressive enforcement. In 2023, Demuth served as the chief author of HF 1809, a bill to ban abortion, and voted against the PRO Act and the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act.

The icing? As Minnesota House Speaker, Demuth blocked a gun violence prevention bill that would ban deadly assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines and provide more funding for school security and mental healthcare. She lied to the parents of one of the children killed during the Annunciation school shooting by promising she would not block the bill.

The facts speak for themselves. Conservative Lisa Demuth would bring Trump’s agenda to Minnesota, an agenda that does not serve or support the residents of this state. We deserve better.
