Bullying Bill is right move for Minnesota.

MNBullyingBillA coalition of over 100 organizations are working this legislative session to stop bullying in Minnesota’s schools. Currently, Minnesota has one of the weakest bullying laws in the country. The whole thing is just 37 words.

Bullying has lasting effects on students and impacts their mental health and self esteem for years after instances occur.

The coalition supports an improved law to help remedy this problem. It provides an outline to help school districts draft their own policy. Or, districts can simply use the improved state model if that works for them. It would also help school districts train educators on how to deal with bullying in school, while also providing guidance on how parents can address the issue.

In order for students to succeed, they need to learn. And in order to learn, they need to feel safe. In order for our students to feel safe, we all need to make sure bullying becomes a thing of the past.

When put all together, it will make sure we have a better future.
