Progressive Roundup: Taxes, Workers and the Bonding Bill.

progressive roundupcapitolwhiteEvery week, Alliance for a Better Minnesota will highlight the important work being done in the progressive community. Focusing on issues that impact Minnesotan’s lives, this important work helps Minnesota continue moving forward.

Enough: A new column by Jeff Van Wychen at MN 2020 points out that some conservatives will never be happy with tax cuts enacted by the DFL, because no tax cut is big enough for conservatives. The moral of the story, according to Van Wychen, is that progressives should remain focused on tax policies the benefit the middle class, key public investments that grow the economy, and create a more fair system.

Workers Memorial: Monday April 28th marked Workers’ Memorial Day to commemorate those injured and killed while on the job. A variety of events were held across Minnesota to honor the day.

Bonding: The Minnesota Legislature is focusing on creating a strong bonding bill for the state. The Governor’s proposal would create 27,000 jobs. The Minnesota Senate is set to release their proposal this week, to ensure a bill passes before the session ends to put more Minnesotans to work.
