Today, House and Senate members and the Paid Family Leave Coalition held a press conference unveiling legislation to provide paid family leave. Building on the governor’s proposal to provide paid leave to state workers, this would extend the benefit to more Minnesotans as part of a statewide insurance program.
This session, the legislature has the opportunity to move forward with an agenda for working families that would build a better future for everyone. We can and should recognize that the way families live and work has changed, and that businesses don’t benefit when their employees have to choose between taking care of a sick loved one or new baby and going to work. In Minnesota, we value family, and we value hard work. Let’s benefit both by passing paid family leave.
