Republican Nikki Haley Would Bring an Extreme & Divisive Agenda to Minnesota.

Extreme Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley came to Minnesota today to host a rally for her presidential campaign.

Though she is attempting to distinguish herself from the former failed president Donald Trump, who is also running for the White House, Haley aligns with Trump on nearly every issue, including banning abortion nationwide, slashing funding for public education, and threatening American democracy.

Just like Donald Trump, Nikki Haley has a decades-long track record of extreme behavior, from signing a no-exceptions abortion ban into law as governor of South Carolina to threatening to gut public education and slash funding for programs like Medicare and Social Security.

If one thing is sure, it’s that no matter the outcome of the Republican presidential primary, Minnesotans will face a candidate with an extreme policy agenda that threatens our families and communities.

Donald Trump and Nikki Haley both tout extreme agendas

Nikki Haley said she would sign a nationwide abortion ban if elected as president. And as governor of South Carolina, Haley signed a law banning abortion without exceptions for rape or incest.

Nikki Haley supports programs that would cut funding for public schools and hurt students and teachers. She supports “school choice” and ineffective policies like “school vouchers” that cut funding from public schools and send it to unaccountable private schools.

Similar to Trump, Haley supports cruel and extreme immigration policy and has committed to mass deportations of undocumented people.

As president, Donald Trump proposed billions in cuts to Social Security and disability insurance.

Haley is no different and made slashing Social Security and Medicare a cornerstone of her campaign platform. She even threatened to raise the retirement age for young Americans.

Both Nikki Haley and Donald Trump threaten American democracy

Since announcing his bid for the 2024 presidential election, Trump has threatened to abuse his power to punish his political opponents, vowed to act as a dictator for the first day of his presidency, and promised to retaliate against the Biden family by ordering a special counsel to investigate them.

Trump is currently under investigation for 91 criminal cases, including for his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, culminating in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Trump was recently found guilty of civil fraud. The judge said the former president’s “complete lack of contrition” bordered on pathological.

If elected president, Haley said, she would pardon Trump if found guilty of any of the criminal indictments.

We need to hold conservatives accountable

Nikki Haley and Donald Trump’s policy agendas are equally harmful and divisive. Minnesotans won’t stand for either.
