What you need to know about Donald Trump’s visit to Minnesota.

Donald Trump recently visited Minnesota to tout extreme plans to roll back reproductive rights and cut funding for public schools.

But Donald Trump needs to remember that Minnesotans have already rejected Donald Trump’s extreme policy agenda that includes banning abortion and slashing funding for public schools. Suppose Donald Trump and Minnesota conservatives actually listened to Minnesotans and cared about what people want. In that case, they’d know that Minnesotans want to keep abortion safe and legal, and we want to invest in our public schools.

Donald Trump and Minnesota conservatives want to ban abortion.

During his speech, Donald Trump thanked the Supreme Court Justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, which eliminated Americans’ constitutional right to abortion.

As president, Donald Trump was responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade, which opened the door for Republicans in states across the country to ban and criminalize access to abortion care.

Since then, fourteen states have enacted near-total or total abortion bans, including Minnesota’s neighbors in North Dakota and South Dakota.

Minnesota conservatives have a decades-long history of trying to ban abortion. Between 2005 and 2022, Minnesota conservatives tried and failed to ban abortion 32 times. During the 2023-2024 Minnesota legislative session, Minnesota conservatives introduced one abortion ban and five abortion restriction bills that Minnesota progressives blocked.

Donald Trump’s policy is extreme and out-of-touch.

In addition to Trump’s threats to roll back reproductive rights, Trump also touted extreme plans targeting public schools, immigrants, and democracy.

Trump said he would cut funding for public schools as president, which would be devastating for students, teachers, and families. And Trump said he would enact a voter ID law, a policy that Minnesotans have already rejected

To make matters worse, in an interview he did while in Minnesota, Trump called for mass deportations of immigrants and spewed cruel and extreme immigration policies.

Hold Donald Trump and Minnesota conservatives accountable.

Trump and Minnesota conservatives’ extreme, anti-choice policy agenda has no place in Minnesota.
