The Truth About The Heritage Foundation.

At this point, you’ve likely heard about Project 2025 and are familiar with the extreme conservative agenda it proposes. If enacted, Project 2025 will restrict reproductive health care, eliminate the Department of Education, and cut taxes for wealthy corporations and CEOs. Project 2025 has ties to former President Trump, and he will undoubtedly spearhead efforts to promote the agenda.

What is The Heritage Foundation?

The Heritage Foundation is an ultra-conservative think tank led by Kevin D. Roberts. Roberts has been a massive supporter of Trump and a facilitator of the Project 2025 agenda–going so far as to verbalize the goal of “institutionalizing Trumpism” through The Heritage Foundation. The Heritage Foundation’s website states its mission is to develop and advocate for public policies centered around “traditional” American values, a market economy, limited government, and a robust national defense program. The group has significant influence in the federal government, having had 175 briefings with Congressional and Presidential candidates in the past year.

The Heritage Foundation boasts how the 2016 Trump administration enacted 64% of Heritage policies and how they recommended the Supreme Court justices responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade. Now, they are building a database of nearly 20,000 people to recruit personnel to join the Trump administration. The goal is to help them push their extreme policies and ensure loyalty to Trump and his actions. Additionally, they are working to train and recruit a new generation of conservatives across the country and preparing them to take over federal government jobs.

What are their ties to Project 2025?

Project 2025 is a conservative policy agenda put forth by the Heritage Foundation. One primary goal of Project 2025 is to speed up the conservative agenda via executive order by overturning the policies the Heritage Foundation believes are wrong. They disguise it as a 900-page “Mandate of Leadership,” but it ultimately rearranges the federal government agency by agency, making way for an uber-conservative administration. Additionally, it outlines policies that will strip away reproductive health care, censor public education, and limit voting access.

How does Trump fit into this?

While Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025 and The Heritage Foundation, the connections are undeniable. One hundred and forty of Trump’s former staffers were part of building this agenda. Paul Dans, a former Trump administration official, spearheaded the Project 2025 agenda. JD Vance, Trump’s ill-suited running mate, even wrote the foreword for an upcoming book written by Kevin Roberts. In it, he called The Heritage Foundation “…the most influential engine of ideas for Republicans.” Not to mention that “institutionalizing Trumpism” is a foundational pillar of The Heritage Foundation.
