Well, we’ve made it. The highly anticipated first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is approaching. What can we expect from this widely discussed showdown between two of the most influential people in politics?
What is Donald Trump likely to talk about?
Donald Trump is known for his extreme politics, and we should expect nothing less from the former President in the upcoming debate. Trump will likely tout policy ideas that mirror Project 2025 and the far-right agenda proposed by the Heritage Foundation that take away our freedoms, threaten our democracy, and only benefit corporations and the wealthy.
Donald Trump has repeatedly bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade. His position on abortion will likely come up in the debate, and it would be no surprise if he continues to brag about his role in this devastating decision.
What will Vice President Harris be sure to discuss?
This will be Harris’s first debate performance since her 2020 Vice Presidential debate against Mike Pence.
Harris will likely discuss a range of policies she hopes to enact as President, including decreasing prescription drug costs and achieving an “opportunity economy” that supports working families. Harris is a vocal supporter of reproductive freedom, stating that if a law is passed to restore reproductive freedoms, she will sign it into law. She has also said that she will go after “greedflation” by targeting businesses that are illegally hiking prices.
Where To Watch
The debate will take place on Tuesday, September 10th at 8 p.m. CT on ABC.
