Lisa Demuth wants to cut $1 billion from Minnesota programs to give tax breaks to the ultra-rich.

On August 25, conservative candidate for governor Lisa Demuth revealed plans to cut $1 billion from programs Minnesotans rely on in order to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy. 

“Just like Trump, Lisa Demuth wants to slash funding for programs that support Minnesota families to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy,” said Marissa Luna, Executive Director at Alliance for a Better Minnesota.

“Minnesotans deserve to know: What programs is Demuth planning to cut, and how will this affect Minnesotans who are already struggling to afford skyrocketing healthcare, gas, and grocery costs?”

Demuth is one of the 86% of elected Minnesota Republicans who support Trump’s agenda to gut funding for Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and Social Security to hand out trillions in tax breaks to big corporations and the ultra-wealthy. When asked, Demuth could not name a single policy she disagrees with Trump on. 

Demuth has praised Trump’s tariffs that have jacked up the price of gas and other goods. And she praised the Medicaid cuts included in Trump’s disastrous budget bill.

In the legislature, Lisa Demuth voted against holding Big Pharma accountable for skyrocketing prescription drug prices and opposed legislation that would make life-sustaining medicines like insulin more affordable for Minnesotans.

Demuth also opposed providing free school meals to kids and voted to underfund public schools.
