Project 2025 is Happening.

President Donald Trump spent most of his campaign falsely claiming that he had nothing to do with Project 2025. Now, a month into his presidency, nearly two-thirds of his executive actions reflect proposals from Project 2025.

Quick Recap: What is Project 2025?

Project 2025 is part of a plan written by an extreme conservative organization called the Heritage Foundation. Every presidential election year, the Heritage Foundation releases a new plan full of extreme conservative goals for the future of the United States. Donald Trump was able to enact many of the 2017 Project’s goals during his first presidency. Now, he’s doing the same with Project 2025.

Donald Trump is Dismantling Public Education

Trump’s vocal opposition to the Department of Education aligns with Project 2025. The Project calls for closing the Department of Public Education, and  cutting millions of dollars from the Department’s research funding. Just last week, Trump called the Department of Education a “con job” and called for its immediate closure.

Minnesota’s K-12 schools receive over a billion dollars of funding from the federal government.

Donald Trump is Endangering Minnesotans

Project 2025’s directives include barring transgender athletes from girls’ and women’s sports teams. This month, the Trump administration announced they are investigating the Minnesota State High School League over their gender-inclusive sports policy. Trump has also announced several anti-transgender executive orders, including barring transgender people from serving in the military and ordering federal agencies to only recognize two genders.

These policies exclude a segment of the population from equal participation in public life, and they open the door to further efforts to erode the civil rights and protections afforded to trans people. Minnesotans value dignity, fairness, and freedom. These bills are out of step with our state and serve only to divide our communities.

Project 2025 includes plans to ban the abortion pill and in vitro fertilization (IVF), allow states to monitor women who are pregnant, and take away coverage for birth control. 861,000 women in Minnesota could lose guaranteed access to free emergency contraception. Trump has already rescinded former President Joe Biden’s executive order to improve access to abortion after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Project 2025 is not Minnesota nice.

Donald Trump’s executive orders  put billionaires and large corporations over the needs of working families while slashing resources that Minnesotans rely on. Project 2025 will affect all Minnesotans who deserve access to public education, health care, reproductive rights and social services.
